Maritime Renaissance 2025

International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar, Croatia, 11th – 13th November 2025

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar (ICUA Zadar) is pleased to announce the international conference "Maritime Renaissance - Post Medieval Adriatic Trade Routes and their Mediterranean and Atlantic links", to be held in November 2025.

The basic aim of the scientific conference is to more accurately interpret the importance of shipping trade routes of the Adriatic Sea from the economic and cultural point of view in post-medieval period. Furthermore, Maritime Renaissance conference will be devoted to new discoveries of shipwrecks, its construction and their cargo, which testify the great progress of maritime trade in modern times.

The conference will deal with the traditional research fields with the aim of creating a basis for an interdisciplinary discussion, which should include contributions from different scientific and archaeological approaches.

The scientific conference is organized with funding from the Ministry of Culture and Media, along with additional support from the Central European Initiative, the oldest and largest regional forum of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe.

The call for posters for the ‘’Maritime Renaissance’’ conference has begun.
Posters may address the same themes available on this website or may explore other topics or current research interests related to the conference theme.
You are cordially invited to submit proposals by September 30, 2025.

Conference attendees are encouraged to register as the Conference is open to the public.
